Dane County and Madison free clothes, back to school supplies and furniture. Clothing closets are located across Dane County. Based on the clients applicant and needs, there may be new and/or gently used clothes, back to school supplies. household goods, baby items, furniture for a home and more for Madison as well as other county residents that are in need.
Each center relies on volunteers and some of those individuals work at a center to gain work experience The charities as well as churches that offer these programs collects donations from the public.
Based on what has been received, the Madison County centers will distributes items. What may be provided to qualified low income families includes, but is not limited to, furniture, clothing for work, household goods items, school supplies or uniforms, holiday decorations, free birthday toys and other goods.
All items which are provided in Dane County are only available based on donations. If the agencies below can't help, then find other sources of free items
Community Action Agency Services
Community Action Coalition For South Central Wisconsin: Main address is 1717 N Stoughton Road: Madison, WI 53704: Dial (608) 246-4768 for hours. A free clothing center is available, with a focus on helping the unemployed or people that need goods for work.
The items are available in multiple sizes and clothes are offered for people of all ages. Dresses, suits, briefcases, slacks and other clothes may be given out for free. Children may be given books, educational goods, or free back to school supplies or clothes for school. A furniture as well as clothing bank are on site. Faith-Based Emergency Assistance
Madison and regional Salvation Army Family Stores: A combination of low cost and free goods are offered. There are back to school supplies, shoes, tablets, and more for kids. Students can also get books, winter jackets, and other free clothes. Other resources range from Christmas to birthday toys, low cost gently used furniture, cribs for kids, and even emergency financial aid.

One bag of supplies can be given only. There may be shoes, winter coats, bedding, school backpacks or supplies, and more. The non-profit will provide free items to some people. There is maternity clothing for pregnant women, diapers, shoes, professional business clothes, and other supplies passed out weekly. Families living in poverty, single moms, and the low income can apply to the Service Center. Vouchers for furniture, such as beds, may be given to the low income as well as working poor. Both free clothes, financial aid, and even small toys or school uniforms for kids may be offered.
