Free back to school supplies in DuPage, Will and Kane County: Charities, churches, and townships in Kane, Will and DuPage County provide free school supplies to low to moderate income families. There are annual giveaway programs for students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school up to college.
The free back to school supply assistance programs include a wide range of goods, even uniforms or personal toiletries. The list of places for school items below is only a sampling - find other free clothing closets in Will County or, for other areas, locate: Kane County free clothing closets Parents, and students, can get some or all of the following.
The school supply giveaways are based on donations. Electronics, including chrome books or laptops. More expense school supply items including backpacks, book bags, sneakers, lunch bags, or clothes. Writing material such as pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, crayons and more. Other items including calculators, rulers, protractors, etc.
Students can also get free personal toiletries, services, hygiene goods and related assistance. There are charities (as well as volunteers) in DuPage as well as Will County that give students haircuts. Or children in Will, Kane and DuPage County can get food, snacks, deodorant and other hygiene goods.

There are many assistance programs offered, including free food, dental cleanings for children, winter jackets, boots, sneakers and more. This is in addition to the free back to school supplies passed out.

This is the non-profit community action agency. There are Seasonal Programs (such as free school supplies), information on scholarships, teen employment, grants and more. There is also limited financial help.

There are several Salvation Army social service centers across these 3 counties. They help with many needs, including school supplies, food, Christmas toys, as well as snacks for students.
Free backpacks, book bags, books, personal toiletries and more. There are also thrift stores for low cost desks (for students), free winter attire and many other low income assistance programs.

Free Vehicle Programs
A major focus is on immigrants, Latinos, and Spanish speakers in Will and DuPage county. There are free educational and school supplies given out. Or sign up for ESL classes, food programs, green cards, or use a computer lab or after school center.

There are toys, computers, notebooks and backpacks, books, and more for children and students. Call for referrals.
