Food Assistance and Food Banks
Almost 20 food banks, soup kitchens, and food pantries operate in Muskingum County. Each of them provide there own forms of assistance to needy, low income families. They may provide a free box of groceries, deliver a meal to a senior citizen, offer clothing and more. Food pantries also often provide free Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter meal programs.
The pantries and soup kitchens tend to be focused on meeting the nutritional needs of clients. But of course many have other items they can give out too. This may range from personal hygiene products to clothing items, free Christmas toys, and paper products. In addition, they often serve as a place to apply for long term support, which may be government programs such as SNAP food stamps or baby formula from WIC vouchers.
