Section 8 Housing Assistance
Federal government grants as well as the United Way often fund the rent assistance programs in Dade County, however applications are at local charities or churches in Miami FL. Applicants may be given loans or free government cash grants for paying their bills. Or some people are referred to long term subsidies that help pay rent, such as HUD section 8 vouchers or affordable apartments as well as other housing units.

Community Action Agency Services
Community Service Centers, also known as Community Action in Miami, assist with rent, security deposits and housing needs. The non-profits are located across Dade County. There will be applications to free grants, case management, low cost loans and other financial resources. There may be limited funds, and when offered, it can pay for utilities, back rent and more.

Allapattah Community Action may have grant money for rent or housing costs from the office at 2257 NW North River Dr., Miami, FL 33125. There is also the Grandparent program for children with special needs, eviction prevention services, information on affordable housing in Miami, and other services.

Eviction Prevention Services
offers several government benefits and public aid programs, including for rent. Only residents in the zip codes of 3156, 33157, 33158, 33176, 33177, 33186, and 33189 can apply. There is also the FPL Care to Share for utility bills, which can also stop evictions. Or get TANF cash assistance from the government to help with future rent.

Section 8 Housing Assistance
Section 8 housing vouchers and counseling from Public Housing Agencies in Miami are also available to qualified low income, working poor, and possibly unemployed residents. There are multiple application sites for HCV, with priority and emergency section 8 rent subsidized program too.

Phone - (305) 532-6401) not only runs section 8 HUD grant program, but they offer assistance with rent to seniors, the disabled, or families with children in the immediate area.
There is also the: M-DC Housing Agency - Section 8 - Certificate Voucher Program: They run the federal government housing section 8 program in Miami Florida. Call (305) 403-3222. This program will limit the amount of money a family needs to pay towards rent as 30% of their income.

Programs for Seniors and Elderly
Senior Rental Assistance program is another option for the elderly in the city. Government money is used for rent payments on homes, assisted living, or apartments. helps senior citizens over the age of 60 in FL with rent and housing. There is also financial assistance for retirees and the disabled that have a low income. Everything from government grants from ESG to emergency rent help to stop evictions, legal aid from free attorneys, and other resources focused on seniors and/or the disabled are offered.

Continue with rent assistance from Dade County Catholic Charities St. James Financial Assistance North Miami only support low income families in the immediate region. The location is 13155 NW 7th Ave, North Miami, FL 33168. Limited funding for rent, security deposits, furniture, and more may be offered from the charity based on funding levels.
Residency and income requirements are in effect. Call (305) 681-7428 for applications to temporary rent payment help. Legal Services of Miami may be able to work on tenant issues, including eviction prevention services or suggestions on rental programs.
Lawyers can also address housing discrimination from landlords in Miami or address tenant repairs. Free lawyers represent the low income renters in housing court to stop an eviction. For the low income that qualify, the resources and advice is provided to them at no cost from clinics and other centers.
