Emergency rental assistance and housing programs are available from several sources. Whether the family lives in Monroe County or the Lenawee region, when in a crisis there are options such as landlord – tenant mediation, government grants to help with rent or security deposits, and other sources of financial aid.
Some charity agencies or churches will also help place a family into a new, low income apartment or pay a portion of a security deposit on the new home.

The goal of the resources are to prevent an eviction. While only a portion of the rent may be paid by the government agencies or a non-profit, they will combine those funds with other services. Rent and mortgage help is available on a case by case basis for veterans only. They can also help a veteran apply for VA benefits, access transportation, and prevent a homeless event.
