Free Vehicle Programs
The assistance programs often are seasonal. The school supply programs run during the summer and fall months. But year round there may be free meals or food for students, financial aid, or after school care. Each charity, church, or government program in Pittsburgh provides their own form of help.
Many different school supplies may be given out in the city of Pittsburgh and county. They include the following. Crayons, markers, binders, notebooks, backpacks, bookbags, pens, paper, and more. Students from kindergarten to high school can also be given free clothes for the school year, such as shoes, sneakers, jeans, dresses, slacks, hand sanitizer, socks, belts, hygiene supplies, and more.

They also give Christmas toys, food, snacks for children, and clothes. The Back to School program is combined with literacy, books, and educational support.

Allegheny County Salvation Army seasonal programs: A main one is the annual back to school supply drive and giveaway. The Christian charity also offers coupons, partnerships with stores like Target, gift cards, and clothes. Whether a free backpack, writing materials, books, or even emergency financial help, assistance is offered.

Food Assistance and Food Banks
Assistance programs include a free clothing closet, food banks, and school backpack program. The backpacks may contain supplies for kids under the age of 18, whether in high school or elementary school (or in between). The non-profit supports all of Allegheny County. Computer programs, school supplies (including for college), information on employment services, job training, books, computer labs and more.
