Several organizations focus on offering housing assistance, including help with rent or security deposits, in the Rapides Parish region. They combine government grants with loans or legal aid. This is the Rapides Parish community action agency. Their main goal is to fight poverty. As part of this, the CSBG Emergency Assistance Program may offer one time (short term) rent help or LIHEAP for paying utility bills.

Various churches are part of this organization. Emergency rent, utility, or security deposit assistance can be provided by one of the churches, synagogues, or other Rapides Parish religious organizations.

General homeless prevention services are offered. All clients need to be able, and willing to, help themselves over the mid to long term. Section 8 Housing Assistance

Several housing programs are run from the quasi government entity. They include the following. Very low income families, seniors, and the disabled may apply for HUD section 8 housing vouchers. Veterans and military members may receive rent help from HUD VASH (as well as other support including job programs).
