Operating across several different states, Telamon is a regional human services organization. They offer dozens of assistance programs to less fortunate families, the unemployed, and low income.

While the resources will vary by state and office, the non-profit offer help to renters, foreclosure counseling, job training and more. They also administer child care and government programs such as Head Start.

Telamon Corporation operates in the states of Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Michigan, Tennessee, Maryland, and also Virginia.

In many states they serve as the equivalent of a local community action agency. Mortgage, tenant and foreclosure counseling: They operate as a HUD certified counseling agency. Different types of foreclosure prevention programs and mortgage delinquency counseling is offered in each state.

Most, if not all, of the services are free for income qualified homeowners. They may also have information for renters on emergency housing or financial aid if they are faced with an eviction.

The free Telamon service is offered to anyone that is delinquent on their home loans or that is at risk of missing a monthly payment on a mortgage. The Foreclosure Intervention Counselor from the HUD certified agency acts as a liaison between the lender and the homeowner to assist in negotiating affordable repayment terms for the homeowner.

Homebuyer Education Fast Track Class is for future homeowners. This was created in an effort to provide individuals ready to buy a home with information to assist them in moving towards homeownership. The workshops and information offered can be effective in helping a homeowner keep their property once it has been purchased.

The sessions will also help customers facing obstacles to homeownership that cannot be resolved in a few months.

Credit and debt counseling as well as financial literacy

Loan programs are for income eligible homeowners to repair, install, or replace existing onsite septic tanks. Funding from Telamon can help pay the cost of connecting to publicly owned sewer treatment systems.

Information on Head Start child development

is an energy conservation program available in most states. The federal government provides funds to Telamon and other community action agencies for the installation of materials, updates and/or provision of services to homes of low income families. It will reduce energy bills, increase the energy efficiency and help ensure the safety and health of the occupants.

Weatherization is prioritized according to those that are most at risk, such as the elderly, seniors, and low income families. In some cases, there may be funds available to pay for the replacement of a heating or cooling system, such as a furnace. Using funding from the U.S. Department of Labor, the: Farm Labor Housing Program can help upgrade or repair a home.

Grants can pay for the repairs and upgrades. What may be covered includes bathrooms and kitchens, structural repairs, doors, windows, plumbing systems, electrical work, fire extinguishers and alarms, heating and air systems, appliances, beds and mattresses, first aid kits, and covered trash containers.

Credit and debt counseling as well as financial literacy: Financial literacy , such as credit counseling, budgeting and debt reduction services are all available.
