can provide long term, permanent rental assistance to homeless mentally-ill/dually-diagnosed families and individuals. Housing assistance and related services will be created to meet the needs of participants.
All aid is offered in order to help them maintain housing stability. The housing units operate from scattered-site, private-market units and apartments. The non-profit works closely with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuum of Care model. Wayne Metro's Community Action Weatherization Assistance Program
can offer free home improvements that focus on energy conservation. This is a free program that is funded through the United States Department of Energy and it offers energy assistance to income-eligible home owners and renters in Wayne County.

This offers job seekers with placement, employment search, and job support. It is provided to homeless individuals. These services are offered in partnership with transitional housing and homeless shelter providers to meet the specific employment needs of the homeless, recently evicted or even those that just moved into a new home.

. Staff work to improve client job readiness and skill levels of Detroit residents. Counselors from Metropolitan Community Action Agency help to identify barriers that can delay or hinder employment.
Staff will then develop Individualized Service Plans based on the goals and skills of the client. Activities and workshops available include Pre-employability skills training, Resume development, Soft Skills Counseling, Establishment of references, and free tips on job search in the Detroit area. In some cases Bus tickets and gas money will be passed out where applicable.

All services provided by the Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency are individualized to clients’ needs and may include auto repair, uniforms/clothing for work, tools/supplies for work or training, text books, bus pass, driver's license restoration, certifications/licensure, and other vocational needs in accordance with the customer's service plan.
Free Computer Training is available in Detroit and across the county. Receive basic skills and certificates. Supportive Services for Veteran Families, or SSVF , is administered in partnership with Monroe County Opportunity Program.
It provides military members and their families with valuable case management and housing stability services. It is mostly for Wayne County Michigan veterans and their families that are on the verge of homelessness, behind on their rent or currently homeless. Clients also get in-house and outside referrals to additional services and government agencies that clients can utilize to stabilize their housing situation and move towards self-sufficiency.
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program
is for residents and the low income that currently have Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV or Section-8). The program will help them reduce dependence on public assistance and also obtain and maintain living wage employment.
Not only is case management available, but the FSS Program also offers a financial incentive to Wayne County participants who increase their earned income. It works by when a HCV holder experiences an increase in their household income, their rental payment portion will not increase and the money will instead be saved.
Many other non-profits, such as Public Housing Agencies and Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) participate in the Family Self-Sufficiency program. Head Start
is organized by Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency. This is the primary federally funded preschool program for low income eligible families with children under the age of 5.
